Meet Dr. Andrea Banks, Chiropractor
Care that feels personal often starts with a story. Calgary Chiropractor Dr. Andrea Banks came to chiropractic from the world of high-level sport, competition, and real-life setbacks that reshaped how she sees health. As a former elite volleyball athlete at Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary, she knows what it means to rely on a body that must move, adapt, and keep up. An unexpected diagnosis of Lyme disease brought her athletic career to an early close, but it also became a turning point in her life. Through that journey, she was introduced to chiropractic care in a deeply meaningful way. What began as a health challenge ultimately reshaped her path and led her to the work she is so passionate about today.
After that first introduction, Dr. Andi didn’t just become curious; she became committed. Chiropractic became a steady presence during her recovery and later a calling. Working in a clinic while regaining her own health gave her a front-row seat to patient care, day in and day out. The result was a clear decision to step into a profession built around helping people function better in their daily lives.
Education Rooted in People, Not Just Textbooks
Before chiropractic school, Dr. Andi earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary, majoring in sociology with a focus on family, work and gender studies. That background still shapes how she works with patients today. Conversations matter. Context matters. So does understanding the person beyond the reason they booked the appointment.
She completed her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, graduating in 2022. Since then, she has continued building her clinical knowledge through ongoing education, with a strong focus on pregnancy, pediatric and infant care. Her learning includes feeding and latch challenges, torticollis, head shape concerns, and gentle care approaches for growing bodies. She is also a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
A Whole-Person Approach to Care
First visits are about listening. Dr. Andi takes time to understand why someone has come in, what their goals are, and how chiropractic may fit into their overall wellness picture. Her approach considers the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. Many patients value that steady, relationship-based style, especially families who return year after year as their lives change and grow.
Being part of the team at Active Back to Health allows her to collaborate with colleagues, share ideas, and learn from a team with a broad range of clinical backgrounds. That environment shapes the care patients receive every day in Calgary.
