Elizabeth Ruggles

Massage Therapist

Since 1996, Elizabeth Ruggles has dedicated her career to helping people move better, feel stronger, and live with less pain. After completing her training at Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies Inc. in Winnipeg, she discovered a passion for working hands-on with people to support recovery and improve daily function. Nearly three decades later, her skills and caring approach continue to make a lasting impact on the patients she sees each day.

A Focus on Orthopedic Massage Therapy

Elizabeth’s specialty is orthopedic massage therapy, also called remedial or advanced massage therapy. This technique is grounded in assessment, targeting specific injuries or dysfunctions rather than offering just general relaxation. Through focused application, she helps reduce pain, restore flexibility, and support improved movement following injury, stress, or strain.

Many of her patients come to her after motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, or sports-related trauma. Seeing someone regain the ability to lift an arm or walk without discomfort is what motivates her most.

Advanced Skills for Recovery

Elizabeth is also certified in cupping therapy and laser therapy, giving patients additional options for rehabilitation. These methods may be combined with orthopedic massage to address muscle tightness or ongoing discomfort. She is also certified in Reiki, relaxation, pregnancy and postnatal massage.

“I’m always continuing to upgrade my courses and always adding new tools to my tool belt to help people in different ways.” This commitment to continual learning means her patients benefit from the latest techniques and a wide range of approaches tailored to their needs.

In particular, Elizabeth is expanding her training with craniosacral therapy to add yet another tool to her practice. Her drive to continually learn keeps her skills current, providing patients with access to a diverse range of methods that support recovery and well-being.

A Team Approach to Care

Working at Active Back to Health, Elizabeth values collaboration. She often partners with chiropractors, physiotherapists, and other healthcare providers in the clinic, ensuring that patients receive complete care under one roof. This team-based approach enables faster and more lasting results.

Life Beyond the Clinic

When she’s not caring for patients, Elizabeth enjoys reading, baking, cooking, and spending time with her family. She also keeps active through Pilates, yoga, and long walks with her dog, Tabitha.
